FIVE MENTAL HEALTH RESEARCHERS

The Royal’s Research Institute is launching a transformative initiative designed to recruit and support the next generation of researchers in mental illness and addiction. Supported through a landmark investment from the Waverley House Foundation, the Accelerator will recruit up to five exceptional early– to mid-career investigators whose work has the potential to advance discovery, innovation, and clinical impact across mental health and addiction research.

AREAS OF INTEREST

→ Depression and Anxiety

→ Trauma and Stress-Related Disorders

→ Schizophrenia and other Severe and Complex Mental Illnesses

→ Addiction

→ Mental Health in Equity-Deserving and At-Risk Populations

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL RECEIVE

→ Dedicated salary and research support

→ Access to advanced neuroimaging and translational research infrastructure

→ Integration within interdisciplinary clinical and research teams

→ Mentorship from internationally recognized scientists and clinicians

→ Opportunities for collaboration across hospitals, universities, and research institutes

→ Support for grant development, trainee supervision, and knowledge mobilization

→ Access to unique translational research environments bridging discovery science and patient care

The following expertise will be considered assets:

→ Brain imaging, especially PET and multimodalities

→ Computational psychiatry, data, AI

→ Brain stimulation

→ Interventional psychiatry

→ Innovation leadership, including partnerships, testing, and commercialization

→ Clinical trials

→ Patient-centered research
